By embarking on this project, you will accomplish a veritable work of art! This plaid first appeared in the book Maison Sajou Point de Croix by Fréderique Crestin-Billet, and we have received numerous requests to purchase the complete work in kit-form. So now you can.
Even though it involves a lot of work, it is very enjoyable to sew as the colours of the thread and canvas vary and each motif can be embroider fairly quickly. You will not feel that it is at all tedious.
The motifs are in a Middle-Age style: griffin, unicorn, coat of arms, hart, fleur de lys, sphynx, fortified castle, stork, salamander, leopard, centaur, or even stylized flower beds.
Presented in a beautiful square box with Sajou embossed on the cover in silver, this kit contains:
- 72 linen squares, in sixteen different colours,
- 16 cards of embroidery thread, in sixteen different colours,
- 9 metres of ribbon, for finishings,
- a needle
- a pattern grid in colour
- a full-colour explanation sheet for assembling the plaid.
The only thing not included is the lining fabric, which gives you the opportunity to match the plaid with your home furnishings.
The model shown here has a finishing ribbon in navy blue, but there are also other versions.
Dimensions of finished work: 108 cm x 96 cm.
If you prefer, you can make a smaller plaid using less squares than those proposed.
