The Sajou store in Beijing is in Dongcheng, the historical and central part of the town. It is situated in Gulou Dongdajie Street, with its’ famous bell and drum towers at the end of the road. These two towers were used to announce the time. There were 24 drums in the Drum Tower which were beaten every two hours day and night.
On the right, the Drum Tower, on the left, the Bell Tower.
The Dongcheng district is home to the remains of old Peking, with the famous Hutong, a labyrinth of indescribable alleys. Many parts of the old town have been destroyed and Dongcheng is now jealously preserved. Normally, the shop front should be painted red, but an exception was made for the Sajou store which had the privilege to be painted orange, like the sister store in Paris.
I cannot resist giving you the address in Chinese:

Our importer, Qiuyan Dong, is a specialist in accessories and supplies for leather work and has another store next to Sajou. This houses an impressive collection of all sorts of skins, including whole alligators, ray skins (shagreen) and absolutely exceptional plonge lambskins.
Qiuyan Dong is very particular about the products she sells and all her goods
come from Europe (France and Italy) as well as craft tools from Japan.
The Sajou Beijing store also sell Retors du Nord embroidery floss, Laine Saint-Pierre, a large selection of our haberdashery items and ribbons, and all the Fil Au Chinois threads. The next step is to develop embroidery techniques, notably to introduce cross stitch to her Chinese customers, a little-known technique.

in the company of Frederique Crestin-Billet.
